I'm happy to announce the birth of my son Jack Clark Carey!! He was born on Sat., March 28th, 2009 at 5:56 pm @ St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul, MN...7 lbs. and 11 oz., 20.5 inches long. Me and Sophia brought Mama and Baby Jack home today and we are all doing great!!

I have finished recording, mixing, and mastering the new Sunflower Soul album and it's ready to be pressed!! CD's/downloads will be available May 16th (release party at Tiffany's in St. Paul!!).

Hey my friends...

I have finished recording the new album "Sunflower Soul"! We're just wrapping up mixing/mastering and putting together the artwork. In any case, the release date is set for May 16th, 2009!!! We will be celebrating with a full band performance at Tiffany's Bar in St. Paul. Stay tuned for more details!

Hey all,

Well, I'm almost finished recording the new album...just have to add a few more guitar parts and back-up vocals. Then we will take a couple of weeks to mix and master. Right now I'm thinking the CD could be available as early as Feb. '09 but I'm planning on having the CD release party in May.

In any case, here are some facts: There will be 10 tracks on the album and the title track will be "Sunflower Soul". All of the songs were written, produced and recorded by yours truly. In fact, I even performed most of the parts. The guest musicians on this album are Jessica Carey (back-up vocals), Jim Carey (keyboards and back-up vocals), Luke Kramer (lead guitar on two songs), Jeff Ray (slide guitar on one song), Nick Hensley (harmonica and back-up vocals). Also, Steve Digre has been providing technical advice throughout this process and will play a big role in the final mixing/mastering phase.

So that's all I can think of right now. Keep an eye out in the coming months for CD release party info. Thanks for checking in!

Woo-hoo!! I finally started recording the new album. As of right now I've finished drums on two songs. This will be the most time consuming phase as I am a novice drummer. I'm gonna try my damnedest to have this thing done by Nov. but we'll see. Keep checking back as I will be posting updates throughout the process.

Hello again,

Okay...so I haven't actually started recording the new album yet, but I have finally acquired all of the necessary studio gear!! Some pieces are in the shop getting tuned up...once I get them back I will spend the summer recording. I'm happy to announce that former Loft bandmate, Steve Digre, will be helping out with the production/engineering side of things! I'm shooting for a fall release but in the meantime...I'll keep posting here as to the progress of the project.

Hey gang...here's a quick update on the musical world of Joe Carey. As of Jan. 1st, I will be performing primarily as a solo artist. I'll still do occasional shows with Love Songs For Angry Men, The Careys, and others...just not exclusively.

Within a few weeks, I will begin tracking for my new album yet to be titled. Most of it will be recorded in my new home studio and I plan on playing all the instruments myself!! We'll see how that goes...but hopefully it'll be ready for release in Spring of 2008.

Until then, I'll be playing solo acoustic as well as full band gigs throughout the region so please sign up on my e-mail list to receive monthly show alerts. Thanks for checkin' in...
